About Us

Gloria Dei began in October, 1984 as a mission to start a church with deep roots in the Gospel, congregational care, education, and outreach. Founded as an American Lutheran Church congregation, the first worship service was held in the Robert Frost Elementary School gym with 35 charter members.

After three years, the congregation moved into their first church home on the southeast side of Sioux Falls at 2800 E. 57th Street. This area of town experienced unprecedented growth and Gloria Dei had major building additions in 1990, 1993, and 1997.

After outgrowing that location, Gloria Dei relocated in June 2011 to our current location, a newly-built facility a couple of miles east. Worship and ministry continue at this location today.

We welcome you to visit or reach out. We would love to meet you.

As we look ahead to 2024, we invite you to consider your level of giving. At Gloria Dei, we believe that everyone plays a crucial part in our community. Faith Matters.
