Fall programming is ramping up! You’re invited to join us in any ministry area that calls to you! Official start dates for the fall are listed in the dropdown menu below, but rest assured, you can jump in at any point. We’d love to have you join us!
Sunday, September 13 | 9:00am + 10:30am
Come “together” with us at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church as we launch fall programming! Church school starts this Sunday; we’ll also have Rainy Day Coffee and Black Iron Waffles bring their food trucks outside the church. PLUS, we will have bouncy houses!
Church School | Starts Sunday, September 13
Church school on Wednesday and Sunday is the cornerstone of our programming for kids 3-years-old (by Sept 1) to 5th grade. Led by enthusiastic volunteers, church school is tailored to kids and teaches them Bible basics in preparation for confirmation.
Confirmation | Starts Wednesday, September 16
Not sure where to begin? We recommend completing the Confirmation Registration Form. This form includes options for multiple children and activities such as church school, Wednesday afternoon programming, and confirmation.
Looking for Confirmation_details? Our program runs from 6th through 8th grade and youth are confirmed in the fall of their 9th grade year. Note: You can start our program at any time during 6th – 8th grade.
High School Youth Group | Starts Wednesday, September 16
Our high school group meets on Wednesdays during the school year and is divided into small groups to foster deeper relationships. We also organize a week-long mission opportunity to serve our city each summer. Not sure where to begin? Praise Team | Monthly third Thursdays rehearsal/dinner ongoing, 5:30pm
Singers and instrumentalists are encouraged to join our Praise Team! Guitarists, drummers, bass players, keyboardists, and singers are welcome. Weekly rehearsals for each weekend are held Saturdays at 3:30pm, Sundays at 7:45am, and when on the team for Wednesday Worship, Wednesdays at 5:30pm.
Bell Choir | Rehearsals start September 1, 6:30-7:30pm
Play handbells with our bell choir! Come on Tuesday evenings to practice in a group setting; this group will be preparing to play together as a part of worship throughout the programming year.
Adult Choir | Rehearsals start September 2, 7:00-8:00pm
Our adult choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings in preparation to sing as a part of worship throughout the programming year. We’re always more than happy to welcome new members to our choir!
Food to You | Thursday, September 10
Want to make an impact in serving those in need in the Sioux Falls community? Good news! We’re serving with Food to You, a mobile food pantry, on Thursday, September 10. From either 4:30-7:15pm or 5:15-7:15pm, serve with others at Messiah New Hope Lutheran Church. Click here to sign up! If you can’t make it that day, we’re also collecting hearty soup until Wednesday, September 9! Drop off any food donations at the bins by the south doors.
Nightwatch | Sunday, September 20
The Nightwatch Van serves food to those in need; serve with this impactful program on Sunday, September 20! Prepare food in the kitchen from 2-4:30pm or serve the meal out of the van in the Raven parking lot from 4:30-7pm. Click here or talk to Dan Bergheim to register.
The Banquet | Thursday, October 8
The Banquet gives people who are food insecure a warm place to join in community for meals throughout the week. This fall, we’re preparing and serving one of those meals. Multiple time slots are available – 2pm to 5pm, 2:45pm to 5pm, or 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Click here or talk to Dan Bergheim to register.
Mission-Haiti Mission Trip Informational Meeting | Sunday, October 11, 11:45am
Gloria Dei has partnered with Mission-Haiti to sponsor children going to school for several years; we’re deepening this partnership by sending a small group to Haiti in March 2027! If you’re interested, join us in the Office Conference Room following our last worship service on October 11. Attending this meeting does not commit you to going – this is simply to give you information to make an educated decision. Register here so we can gauge interest.

- Stay in main east-west hallway and Fellowship Hall/Gathering Space.
Check’n on the Second | Second Sundays of each month; 8:30am
Blood pressure checks before and after worship services in the Gathering Space. You can have high blood pressure without any symptoms. Even without symptoms, damage to blood vessels and heart continues and can be detected.
Women’s Christ-Centered Yoga | Tuesdays, 12:00pm-1:00pm
Come join Gretchen for Women’s Christ-Centered Yoga in the chapel. Using movement, breath, and mindfulness, with scripture sprinkled throughout, this yoga practice will help you feel more deeply connected to your mind, body, and spirit as you embrace the presence of Christ in your life.
Bring a mat if you have one!
Caring for Caregivers | Monthly Third Sundays, 10:00am
This group meets monthly in the Office Conference Room to offer support, education, and resources to caregivers. The first meeting of the fall will be September 20th.
Bloodmobile | September 27, 8:30am – 12:00pm
Twice per year, the Community Blood Bank’s Bloodmobile comes to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for people to donate blood on-the-spot or by prior appointment. To sign up online, visit this link.
Men’s Bible Study | Wednesdays, 6:30am
Get your day started off with Scripture! Join our men as we dig deeply into the Word and explore a chapter of Scripture at a time. No books, homework, or prep time. Simply join us at 6:30am in room 123 on the west end of the building (use the handicapped/automatic door as it is on a timer). The coffee will be on. Bring a Bible if you have one or ask for one on arrival.
Men’s Bible Study | Mondays, 10:30am
Gloria Dei has a fantastic, overflowing early Wednesday morning men’s Bible study. To build on the great ministry we’re already doing, we’re offering a second weekly men’s Bible study on Monday mornings at 10:30 AM. Join us each seek as we open the scriptures together and study God’s word!
“gather” Women’s Bible Study | Thursdays, 9:30am
Gather with other women and work through the monthly gather magazine. All are welcome! This group meets in room 123, at the end of the west wing of the church.
Exercising Your Faith | Mondays, 5:15pm
Exercise your mind and body by joining Exercising Your Faith for 30 minutes of Bible study followed by walking or other group exercise. The first meeting will be September 21. This group meets in the Youth Room.
Wednesday Women’s Bible Study | Wednesdays, 10:00am
Starting on September 23, this group meets in the Fellowship Hall for fellowship and learning together! This fall, discussion will be held about the book Abide by Jen Wilkin. Copies are available at Crossroads Bookstore in Sioux Falls or wherever you shop for books online.
Fall Membership Sessions | Sunday, September 27 + Sunday, October 4, 9:00am OR Wednesday, September 30, 5:00-7:00pm
Anyone interested in learning more about membership at Gloria Dei is welcome to attend.
Sunday membership sessions consist of two, one hour sessions. Content is different at sessions #1 and #2. Wednesday’s membership session is one session, for approximately 2 hours.

Card Club | Mondays + Thursdays, 1:00pm-3:00pm
All are welcome to join this year-round group for Hand and Foot and other card games. This group meets in the Youth Room!
Pickleball | Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30am
Pickleball is played in the gym with fellowship in the Youth Room. Some paddles for use or bring your own equipment. All are welcome. Call the church office for more information, (605) 371-3737.
