Dear Gloria Dei,
This past Wednesday the sanctuary was overflowing with worshipers on Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday begins the 40-day journey of Lent, a time of repentance, reflection, and renewal for Christians around the world.
Here at Gloria Dei, our Wednesday worship services at 6 p.m. during Lent will utilize video presentations by Pastor Adam Hamilton, a Methodist Minister who leads a large congregation in Leawood Kansas called Resurrection United Methodist Church.
The video presentations, many of which were filmed in the Holy Land, are each approximately ten minutes in length. Each week will focus on a different aspect of Jesus’ final day on earth before his crucifixion. These videos are based on Hamilton’s book entitled “24 Hours That Changed the World.”
In addition to your weekend worship, I encourage you to join in the discipline of Wednesday worship during this important season, as we move with Jesus toward Holy Week and Easter.
For this weekend in worship, we continue in the Gospel of Luke. Please read Luke 4:1-13 as we see Jesus led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit where he resists the devil’s temptations.
And just a reminder that we have one more group presentation regarding our Capital Campaign. If you haven’t attended yet, please know you are welcome and encouraged to do so. This Sunday morning, March 9, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel.
