The sounds of children’s laughter and songs fill the air at Gloria Dei each summer during Vacation Bible School (VBS). This past summer’s VBS was held June 5th through 9th. This cherished program has been a time of faith and fellowship for preschool-aged kids, leaving a lasting mark on the lives of both children and their families. We had the privilege of speaking with Ashley Toth, a parent whose children attended VBS, as well as Karen Rush and Millie Miller, grandparents whose grandkids participated.
Ashley Toth, a parent at Gloria Dei, witnessed the positive impact of VBS on her children’s lives. “VBS provided a nurturing and inclusive space for my children to grow in their faith,” Toth shared. “The engaging activities, captivating Bible stories, and vibrant worship sessions helped them forge a deeper connection with God.”
Karen Rush and Millie Miller eagerly enrolled their grandkids in VBS at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. They witnessed firsthand the transformative power of the program. “VBS became a highlight of our grandkids’ summer,” Rush expressed. “They formed meaningful friendships, absorbed valuable life lessons, and developed a strong moral foundation.”
Miller emphasized the intergenerational connections nurtured by VBS. “As grandparents, we value the opportunity for our grandkids to build relationships within the church community,” Miller stated. “VBS not only offers them a chance to grow in their faith but also to connect with older children and mentors who serve as guiding lights.”
The impact of VBS extends beyond the church’s walls. Toth, Rush, and Miller all noted how their children and grandchildren carried the songs and stories of VBS into their everyday lives. They marveled at how these teachings became a constant reminder of God’s love and grace.
At Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, VBS serves as a bridge that unites families, strengthens faith, and fosters a sense of belonging. Children delight in the interactive activities, immersive Bible lessons, and engaging skits, while parents and grandparents are encouraged to know their little ones are growing spiritually within a supportive community.
As another summer wraps up, the impact of VBS week at Gloria Dei continues to shape the lives of children and families. The joy, friendship, and spiritual growth they experienced allowed the kids an opportunity to experience God’s love in a fun, meaningful, and tangible way.
