Hello Gloria Dei,
This past weekend I was privileged to help my former congregation celebrate its 25th Anniversary. I preached at morning worship and was invited to speak at an evening banquet. Lorrie and I felt blessed to be able to renew old friendships and create some new ones.
This week is, of course, an Anniversary for Gloria Dei. We celebrate 40 years of Christ-Centered ministry in and through you, the people of Gloria Dei. It is good to remember our past. Just like within families, it is good to remember histories and people, so it is with congregations. The ministry of today stands solidly on the ministry of past members and staff. Within worship this week, we’ll remember our past and give thanks to God for it.
Yet, we will also be looking forward. 40 years is quite a milestone. Yet, there remains unfinished business. God’s Holy Spirit continues to be active through Gloria Dei to reach and to serve countless numbers of people in the name of Christ. Former Gloria Dei member and Interim Pastor, Brian Mortenson, will preach at our weekend worship services.
After our 5 p.m. worship on Saturday, we’ll stay and enjoy Root Beer Floats.
And this Sunday, May 4, we have just one worship service at 9:30. Following worship we’ll enjoy fellowship and brunch together, with Bouncy Houses for kids.
Our May 7 Wednesday worship at 6 p.m. will include some 40th Anniversary elements as well, with dinner of tamales and enchiladas prepared by the fine people of Pueblo de Dios Lutheran Church preceding worship at 5 p.m.
Displays and Pictures will be available in the Gathering Area all week long.
I look forward to celebrating 40 years of God’s work through Gloria Dei. To God be the Glory.
See you in worship,
Pastor Tim
