We are pleased to have Pastors Jeff Backer and Laura Phillips join us in worship this weekend. Pastor Jeff and Pastor Laura serve the St. Dysmas congregation, located within the walls of the Men’s State Penitentiary. This is a ministry that you, the people of Gloria Dei, support with prayer, finances, and onsite presence. It is a privilege to have Jeff and Laura with us to bring us God’s word and to learn more about this important, ongoing ministry.
If you haven’t heard, we celebrate with our Director of Worship and Music, Matt Walicke, and his wife Tasondra, as they welcomed a new baby into their house, Elsie Jo Ann Walicke, born on December 30. All are doing well.
Pastor Sarah and Pastor Trisha Boese from Shalom Lutheran in Harrisburg are leading a group of over forty people on a two-week journey through the country of Egypt. Their journey will include many sites around Cairo, Alexandria, a cruise on the Nile River, Pyramids, various museums, temples, islands, and lots more. Keep them all in your prayers.
Beginning on the weekend of January 17-18, we will launch into a Preaching Series called “Holy Encounters with Jesus”. Each week we’ll look at a different biblical character with whom our Lord shares God’s love. We will utilize scenes from Season One of the popular series “The Chosen.”
The Gloria Dei Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 25, at 11:45 a.m. in the sanctuary. Please plan to attend.
