A Fun Time in Preschool

I had the opportunity once again this week to lead the chapel discussion for our preschool children. Every week, Monday through Friday, over seventy kids are here learning and growing in faith at the Gloria Dei preschool.

Chapel consists of Sharon Claude, Director, and the other teachers leading a few songs. And then, one of the pastors (this year it has been mostly Pastor Chris), leads a bible lesson or bible story for the kids, followed by a prayer and more singing.

This morning (I’m writing on Thursday) we talked about Jesus’ story of the two houses. One was built upon a rock and the other upon the sand. Of course, when I asked the kids if anyone had ever built a sandcastle, almost every hand went up. And when I asked what happens when a sandcastle gets wet, they all knew that it falls apart and falls down.

But what about building on a rock, or solid foundation? Well, the kids are smart. They knew the answer to that as well. A house stands firm when built upon a rock. We then talked in simple terms about how much God loves them and how God gives each of us the privilege of loving and caring for others and how that might take shape.

At the end of our time together, the children told me that it was “S” week in the preschool. And they let me know of the Silly Man and the Smart Man in Jesus’ story. And another said, “Sandcastle is an S word too”. These kids are amazing. It is so fun to be with them. And because of you and your support they are learning about the solid foundation of God’s love in their lives. Thanks to our Director, Sharon, and our fine teachers and aids. And thank you for supporting such a fine ministry!

This week in worship we continue watching scenes from “The Chosen” as Jesus has a holy encounter with Matthew the tax collector. Please read Matthew 9:9-13.

Also, Sunday is our Annual Meeting. We meet in the sanctuary at 11:45 a.m.

Please use this link to access the Annual Report along with year-end financial statements for 2025 and a proposed budget for 2026. I hope to see you there.

See you worship as together, we build our lives on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ.
