“Let Everything that Breathes Praise the Lord” Psalm 150

Hello Gloria Dei,

Psalm 150 is the last psalm in the Bible. How fitting that the book of Psalms, with all its different themes of trust, faith, lament, thanksgiving, confession, ends with a psalm of praise. “Praise the Lord” this psalm tells us. “Praise God in his sanctuary. Praise him for his mighty deeds. Praise him with trumpet, harp, tambourine, strings and cymbals.” And Psalm 50 ends by saying “Let everything that Breathes praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!”

During this season of Advent, we focus on the Advent words of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. The God who shows up by way of his Son at Christmas is the one who brings hope, peace, joy and love to this world. God is certainly worthy of our praise.

This Sunday, December 14, our choirs and musicians will lead us in worship at both the 9:00 and 10:30 services as they present the annual Gloria Dei Advent/Christmas Cantata. This year will be a shorter version of “A Christmas Carol”, with words of Scripture read throughout. Come and enjoy as your fellow members of Gloria Dei share their gifts with us. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and relatives to Gloria Dei as together we will praise the Lord.

I also want to remind you that this Saturday our 5 p.m. worship will be a Service of Hope and Remembrance. This service centers on the reality of grief and loss in our lives and the hope and peace that God brings. Supper will follow at 6 p.m.

Finally, as we approach the celebration of Christmas, we are in need of volunteers for any and all of our Christmas Eve services, including parking lot attendants. In all we need over 80 volunteers in different capacities. We are about halfway there. Please sign up if you can. Thank you!

“Let Everything that Breathes Praise the Lord!”

See you in worship. God is good. All the time.

Pastor Tim
