Hello Gloria Dei,
One of the things I love about Gloria Dei is the heart this congregation has for mission. We are a people who love to serve and care for our neighbors and support our community. Caring for others forms faithful and lasting relationships and we are excited to begin a new missional relationship at Gloria Dei. Beginning on August 24th we will be hosting a Ukrainian Christian Congregation in our building.
The congregation will gather for worship on Sundays at 1:00 and also meet Friday evenings for a weekly Bible study. Gloria Dei staff and council felt called to begin this relationship for a number of reasons. Of course, we want to provide a space for the congregation to worship and proclaim the love of Christ. It is also so important for immigrants to have a place to gather together to build connections, share resources and support one another. We are happy to provide this space for the Ukrainian congregation. This relationship is a wonderful reminder that we are part of a big church that shares the mission of spreading God’s love.
Because their worship times do not overlap with Gloria Dei’s, you may not encounter any members of the Ukrainian congregation. If you do, I’m sure you will share a warm welcome with them. If you are interested in connecting with the congregation, please let me know. We would love to have a few Gloria Dei members walking with the congregation as they begin worshiping at Gloria Dei.
This weekend in worship we will be talking about the importance of faithful relationships and having people come alongside us as we run the race of faith. Please read Hebrews 11:29-12:2 to prepare.
See you in worship!
Pastor Amy
