Things To Know

Dei Life: I’m excited about a new quarterly publication entitled Dei Life. This colorful magazine should be hitting the mailboxes of all Gloria Dei members in the next day or two. As you receive it, please take time to read about just some of the stories, events, and ministries happening through you, the people of Gloria Dei. The purpose of this magazine is to share the story of Gloria Dei, both with members, and with the wider community. After you’ve had a chance to read through, if you know of a neighbor or friend who doesn’t have a church home, or is looking for a new one, please share your copy of Dei Life with them. Enjoy!

And now, a few other important announcements.

First, after I hyped up the Movie Event with Celebrate Church, we have gotten the disappointing word that the release of “Ordinary Angels” is being pushed back to a later date. So, no movie event on October 11th. We hope to still do this when Hollywood announces the new release date. We’ll keep you informed as more details become available. Thanks for understanding.

Second, this weekend is Rally or Kickoff weekend. In addition to worship, our church school gets underway. We will have displays set up for you to sign up for the different ministries and happenings at Gloria Dei. “Worship Plus One” is a way to encourage all of us to worship regularly, but also to jump into at least one other mission, study, or ministry through Gloria Dei. What will be your “Worship Plus One”?

Third, as part of the displays, you’ll see some books from our library available for a free-will donation. The proceeds from the free-will offering will help support our library.

Fourth, you’ll see a table with produce from our own Community Gardeners. Another free-will offering opportunity, you can purchase the fresh produce, with all funds raised going to local hunger organizations in and around Sioux Falls.

Fifth, on Sunday we will have a food truck out front from “Getcha Coffee”, and also will be treated by the fine people at Pueblo de Dios Church, who will be providing tamale lunch plates for $10 each.

Sixth, Registration for the Men’s Retreat Closes this Monday, September 11. Register now if you’re interested. Details and registration on our website under Sign Ups and Happenings.

And finally, seventh, we are beginning a four-week preaching series entitles: “Scandalous God. Scandalous Grace.” In preparation for worship, please read the parable of the Good Samaritan, found in Luke 10:25-37.

See you in worship!

Pastor Tim
