Two Things: A Gloria Dei Trip to Norway | Community Garden Applications

Happy New Year Gloria Dei,

Today I want to give you information about two things.

First, a pitch for the “Gloria Dei and Friends Trip to Norway”.

My wife Lorrie and I, together with Mary Schultz, are excited to be taking the lead on this trip, set for August 5 – 18, 2024. Many of you have expressed interest. We still have spots available but will need to know final numbers before too long.

This coming Wednesday, January 10, from 11:00 a.m. to Noon, there will be a live webinar with our Tour Company, Brekke Tours. If you have some interest and want to learn more about the trip, please register and tune in to the Webinar using this link.

If you can’t make it work at 11:00 on Wednesday morning, please still register for the Webinar, and they will send a recording of this hour-long event to you for viewing at your convenience. In addition to the upcoming webinar, you can find information about the trip on the Gloria Dei website using the Church Life and Sign Ups and Happenings tabs.

Second, 2024 Community Garden Applications Now Open!

Applications for NEW GARDENERS, interested in a garden plot in any of the 8 Sioux Falls Community Gardens, including here at Gloria Dei, are being accepted now. If you have not previously rented a garden plot and are interested, please find the needed information at:  livewellsiouxfalls.org   Click on the Eat Well tab at the top of the page and then Community Gardens on the left. Please read the Community Garden Guidelines before you consider completing the online application.

A limited number of garden plots are available throughout the city this year, and they are accepted in the order of the date they are received. You can request 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of garden locations in Sioux Falls. Gardeners who end the previous year in good standing are guaranteed to receive their same spots and have a different renewal process. If you are at all interested in gardening and can commit to the time needed for plot upkeep, please apply. Gardening advice and education are available from the Minnehaha Master Gardeners and SDSU Extension Staff.

Just a reminder. This past weekend we began a three-month journey through the Gospel of Mark. I invite you to read along as we dig into this fast-paced account of Jesus’ life and ministry. For this weekend, please read March chapter 2.

See you in worship,

Pastor Tim
