Hello Gloria Dei,
Just a few reminders today.
- This Weekend we celebrate the festival of All Saints. We will remember by name those members of Gloria Dei who have died this past year and are now together in heaven because of Christ. I encourage you to remember and give thanks for your family members and friends who have died with the certain promise of new life in Christ.
- Per our constitution and bylaws, Gloria Dei elects new council and committee members the first weekend in November. Ballots will be available at a table in the Gathering Area for you to approve the slate of nominees presented by the Nominating Committee.
- November brings with it a Stewardship Emphasis at Gloria Dei. It assists in our planning for 2025 that we all make an Estimate of Giving to God’s work in and through this congregation. Giving of our time, talents, and treasure is a natural part of our Christian faith. God is so generous with us and that is reflected in our generosity toward others. Estimate of Giving Cards can be submitted confidentially by clicking here. Cards will also be available at the church throughout the month of November.
- As we move toward our national election day this coming Tuesday, I encourage you to vote, allowing your faith in God to guide and direct you. I also encourage you to pray for our elected leaders, no matter who wins, that they may be guided by God’s Holy Spirit to work for the common good of all. I’m including the following prayer for you to use if you’d like. The prayer comes from the Lutheran Book of Worship:
“Almighty God, we are grateful for our country and this good land you have provided. Help us to always remember your generosity and constantly do your will. Bless our land with honesty in the workplace, truth in education, and honor in daily life. When times are prosperous, let our hearts be thankful; and in troubled times do not let our trust in you fail. On this day, Lord, help us to elect trustworthy leaders, participate in wise decisions for our common life, and serve our neighbors in local communities. Bless the leaders of our land, that we may be at peace among ourselves and a blessing to other nations of the earth, through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Amen.”
See you in worship,
Pastor Tim
