I strongly encourage you to attend the Annual Meeting of the congregation. We will gather following the second worship service on Sunday, January 28, at 11:45 a.m. We will meet in the sanctuary and anticipate the meeting lasting between 60 and 90 minutes.
As we do each year, we will review the past year’s financials. We will also adopt the Financial Ministry Plan for 2024.
In addition, you will hear from our Council President, Sara Dannen, and from me, regarding the church council decision to assess a possible Capital Campaign with the intent of expanding our campus to include multi-use space on Gloria Dei’s property to the north of our current buildings.
As the congregation continues to grow deeper in faith, we also continue to grow numerically. We currently are just shy of 4000 members. We take seriously Christ’s Great Commandment to love one another and his Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. Within this growing SE section of Sioux Falls, our possible expansion is an attempt to meet the current needs and to stay ahead of the growth that is coming.
We will be voting on the Financial Plan for 2024. Per our constitution, only those attending in person can vote. If you cannot make it to the meeting it will be livestreamed at www.gloriadeisf.org/live. Your voice and vote are needed, so come and be present as you are able.
I also want to let you know about a recent staff transition. Stacie Kray, who has served Gloria Dei so well for these past seven years, has retired. Stacie has been part of our office team, working closely with Pastor Chris engaging volunteers, and coordinating many of our “beyond the walls” outreach opportunities. She also has helped recruit worship volunteers among many other tasks. Stacie and her husband Chris remain part of Gloria Dei, but please be sure to thank Stacie when you see her for her superb service to this congregation. Thanks Stacie!
We are pleased to announce that we have brought onto the staff, Josh Weiland. Josh’s title will be Discipleship Coordinator. Josh will be doing much of what Stacie has done: working with Pastor Chris within Mission & Outreach and working to engage worship volunteers. We will be expanding this role to include engagement and recruitment in many other areas of Gloria Dei’s ministry as well. Josh will be working part-time. Please be open to Josh as he makes calls, visits in person, and sends emails to provide you with opportunities to put your faith into action. Josh and his wife Corrie, along with their two daughters, are members of Gloria Dei. Welcome!
For this weekend in worship, please read Mark chapter five.
See you in worship,
Pastor Tim
