Four Weeks with Martin Luther And Don’t Forget the Pet Blessing

Hello Gloria Dei,

Just a quick note today. I hope and pray you are doing well and enjoying the summer. We have the great promise that no matter what is going on in our lives, God is present and journeying with us, gifting us with his grace, comfort, forgiveness, and salvation. I pray that you know God’s presence and love in a deep and rich way.

Over the next month, our preaching theme will be “Four Weeks with Martin Luther”. The teachings of Martin Luther, the great reformer of the 16th Century, will be our focus.

This weekend we’ll learn a bit about Luther’s Small Catechism, why it was written, and what its main focus is all about. Other emphases will include Luther’s “Freed From; Freed For”, “Salvation by grace through faith”, and “The Priesthood of All Believers.”

And don’t forget: The 10:30 service this Sunday will be outside, and you are invited to bring your pet for a special Pet Blessing. The service will last about 30 minutes. Please keep dogs on a leash and be sure to bring “clean up bags”. We’ll have big bowls of water set out for the pets. In addition, the SDSU Ice Cream Truck will be here to purchase both human and pup cups of ice cream from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Come and enjoy.

The Saturday 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. services will be as usual, in the sanctuary.

One more thing: It was a great time at Gloria Dei over the past four days. We had about 120 elementary age children for Dei Camp. It was so fun to see the activity and hear the buzz as the kids laughed, learned, sang, and gave praise to God for the love God continues to shower upon us in Christ. Thank you to Lara Kvale, staff, volunteers, and the NeSoDak counselors, all who helped make the week such a wonderful experience for the kids.

Enjoy the weekend and I’ll see you in worship.

Pastor Tim
