Summertime

Hello Gloria Dei,

As we arrive at the middle of June, I hope your summer is off to a good start. Maybe you have travel plans, or lake plans, or just some extra time to get a break from the normal, busy routines.

One of the joys of summer is the opportunity to see and hear different musical groups. The Levitt near Falls Park is up and running with its music each week. Lorrie and I were outdoors last week listening to music while dining on the patio of a favorite restaurant.

I want to let you know of another wonderful musical opportunity to put onto your calendar. On Thursday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m., Gloria Dei is hosting a concert by the Agape Ringers, a fantastic Bell Choir from Chicago. You don’t want to miss this. All are invited and invite your friends and family to come with you.

Summertime also means Vacation Bible School. We’ve had a great week here at Gloria Dei with lots and lots of children taking part in VBS. It is a joy to hear and see all the kids singing songs, making crafts, and learning the stories of the Bible. God is good. All the time.

As we continue our “Bible Favorites” preaching series, please read one of Jesus’ challenging parables, which ultimately is good news for all of us. It can be found in Matthew 20:1-16 and will be our theme for worship this weekend.

And once again, I want to remind you that we continue our Focus Group Meetings to see if we are ready to launch into a capital campaign for future expansion. If you haven’t had the chance to attend one of the meetings, please do so. Your voice is needed.

Meetings happen after each of the three weekend services through June 23, with childcare available following the 9 a.m. service each week.

For those who can’t make it in person, there will also be a Zoom Focus Group Meeting available this Sunday, June 16, at 8:00 a.m. Use this link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82503630927 to connect to the Zoom meeting.

And finally, Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there. We are grateful for you and for the gift of family. We are all on this faith journey together as a family of faith. Enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you in worship.
