As you may have heard, we are using the above theme, “Worship Plus One”, as an emphasis this year at Gloria Dei. Worship is at the heart of what we are about. Worshiping God on a regular basis allows us to hear God’s word of grace, love, forgiveness, and calling on our lives. Nowhere else but in worship do we hear the Word of God and share in the life-changing sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. Yes, regular worship is so important in our journey of faith, as Jesus meets us in worship, and collectively we support, pray for, and enjoy one another’s fellowship. Praising God is a lifelong, joy-filled, endeavor.
Yet there is more to the Christian faith journey. As Jesus meets us in worship, he calls us to go out from the sanctuary and into the world. He calls us to let our light shine for all to see.
On our Kick-Off weekend, September 9 & 10, and for a few weeks following, we will have tables and displays set out that provide opportunities for all of us to get involved in ministry. Everything from ministry with kids and youth, to jumping in and serving at the Banquet, to sponsoring a child in school in Haiti, to being part of a support group or Bible Study, to singing or playing in a choir, and much more.
One of the ways you can be involved is assisting as a worship volunteer. This means helping to serve communion, or to greet people as they come into the church, or to read the Scripture lesson, or to help serve in the kitchen, and much more.
Beginning this fall, we will be setting up teams and team leaders to help organize our worship volunteers. And so, as we plan for the 2023-24 programming year, we’d like to update your possible interest in being a worship volunteer. Please fill out the short form using this link and let us know if being a worship volunteer is one of the ways you can fulfill the “Worship Plus One” theme.
As always, thank you for giving of your time and talent to the work of Christ in and through Gloria Dei.
Worship and Hospitality Volunteer Form
For worship this weekend, we begin two weeks in the book of Revelation. Please read chapters one through 11. As a reminder, there are videos released each week that correspond with our weekly readings. The pastors provide some helpful background information. You can find the videos on our website.
See you in worship.
