The calendar says summer is winding down, but there are still a few warm evenings; late sunsets, trips to the lake, backyard cookouts, and ice cream runs left to enjoy. It’s that in-between season—a foot in summer and a foot in fall.
For many families, this also means backpacks are coming out, alarm clocks are being reset, and college students are packing up cars and saying goodbye for another semester. New teachers, new classmates, new schedules, new roommates, and new opportunities await. Along with the excitement can come uncertainty, nervousness, and questions about what this next season will hold.
The good news is that while seasons change, God does not.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
As routines become busier, it’s easy to let our faith slip to the background. But perhaps this new season is an invitation to make space for God in new ways—a morning prayer before school, reading a few verses between classes, joining a campus ministry, worshiping regularly, or simply remembering that God is present in every conversation, challenge, and celebration.
Whatever season you are in, know this:
God goes before you.
God walks beside you.
God remains with you.
So, enjoy those last moments of summer—the sunshine, the laughter, and the slower pace. Then step confidently into what’s next, trusting that every new beginning is another opportunity to experience God’s faithfulness.
As we enjoy these last few weeks of summer at Gloria Dei, we’re also looking forward to an exciting fall season of ministry! If you haven’t already registered your child for Church School or Confirmation, now is a great time to do so. This weekend in worship, we’ll continue our sermon series, Summer at the Lake, as we hear the story of the woman at the well. Jesus offers her something far greater than ordinary water—He offers living water, a gift that satisfies our deepest thirst and brings new life. The beautiful promise is that this living water isn’t just for the woman at the well; it’s for each one of us. We hope you’ll join us as we gather to hear this life-giving promise and be refreshed by God’s grace.
May God bless these final days of summer and prepare our hearts for the new season ahead.
See you in church!
