Hello Gloria Dei,
Pastor Amy here.
Springtime is one of my favorite seasons. I love the many signs of new life that remind us of the new life we are given in Christ. While we’ve had our share of cold and windy days, we’ve also begun to see the beauty of spring: flowering trees, robins singing, and sunlight stretching long into the evening.
Spring is also a season of transition for many. This Sunday at Gloria Dei, we will celebrate a graduation milestone for our high school and college graduates. During the 9:00 a.m. service, we will honor and bless these students. Please keep these young people in your prayers as they celebrate this important milestone and look ahead to the future.
I’d also like to invite you to an annual spring event: the South Dakota Synod Assembly. This year’s assembly will be held May 29–30 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Congregations from across the state gather for this event, offering an opportunity to experience the broader church. Attendees will hear reports from synod staff and learn more about ministries taking place throughout South Dakota and across the country. The theme, “Equip,” will focus on how we are prepared as the body of Christ to share God’s love and forgiveness with the world. If you are interested in attending, please contact the church office. Registration is due by May 15, and space is limited.
This weekend in worship, we will reflect on the story of Jacob and his brother Esau. Their relationship is marked by struggle, but it ultimately leads to a powerful moment of reconciliation. We’ll focus on Genesis 32–33, but you’re encouraged to read their full story in Genesis 25–33 if you have time.
My hope is that this spring season fills you with a renewed sense of hope in the new life we share in Christ.
Blessings,
Pastor Amy
