A Good Friend

Hello Gloria Dei,

As we continue in our “Summer at the Lake” preaching series centered on themes and texts having to do with water, this weekend we arrive at Psalm 23. “He leads me beside still waters,” this Psalm says.

Psalm 23 is like a good friend. It has been read tens of thousands of times in all kinds of circumstances. It is a Psalm of Trust. In God, our Good Shepherd, we can put our full trust even when we go through the dark valleys of life. God walks with us, providing love, comfort, goodness and mercy, now and forever. I invite you to be in worship this weekend, either in person or online, as we hear once again the promises of God found in this good friend, Psalm 23.

I also want to let all Gloria Dei golfers know that we still have a few spots remaining for our Scramble Golf Outing at Willow Run Golf Course on Sunday August 2nd. Tee-times begin at 1:00 p.m. Cost is $90 including cart. Great Life members receive their normal discount. The deadline to sign up is this coming Wednesday, July 29. Sign up using this link or go to our website. The Lord promises to “make me lie down in green fairways.” Sorry, that’s my loose translation of Psalm 23, verse 2.

I also want to say a big thank you to Gloria Dei for serving at our recent Feed My Starving Children MobilePackTM. We packed over 108 thousand meals to be sent to those most in need around this world that God loves. And a big thanks to our Dei Camp crew for a super week earlier in July. Way to Go, Gloria Dei.

Have a super day and I’ll see you in worship,

Pastor Tim
