Dear Gloria Dei,
Last week you heard a little bit of an update from the Call Committee and their search for Gloria Dei’s next senior pastor. This week I also want to take the time to acknowledge another very important transition.
With mixed emotions, but always a strong sense of hope in the work of the Holy Spirit, we will also soon be saying goodbye to our beloved senior pastor of nearly 20 years, Pastor Tim Selbo. Before he officially retires, we want to take the time to celebrate Pastor Tim and his ministry, not only here at Gloria Dei, but also to God’s whole church!
We want to invite you to a special lunch celebration in honor of Pastor Tim at Gloria Dei on Sunday, November 1st at 12 noon. Please RSVP here so we can plan for food and fellowship: https://gloriadeisd.breezechms.com/form/207b4e
In addition, one strong Gloria Dei tradition at the retirement of our pastors is a gift from the congregation. As we know, one of Pastor Tim’s great loves is the game of golf. In honor of his love of golf and his retirement to Arizona, what could be a more perfect gift than a golf cart! If you would like to contribute to this gift, please make a cash or check gift directly to Pastor Tim Selbo (to avoid complicated church finances, we ask you to NOT make your checks out to Gloria Dei for this gift; also, do not make online gifts for Pastor Tim). A card box will be placed at the Welcome Center table during worship services for you to give your gift. Any other time, please bring your gift to the church office and let us know it is a gift for Pastor Tim.
We have been so blessed by Pastor Tim, Lorrie, their children, and the work of the Gospel they have been part of in our midst. Throughout his ministry, Pastor Tim has always led with the Gospel and given God the glory for everything. He’s been a faithful witness to the power of God in all of his ministry.
Thanks for joining us to celebrate Pastor Tim, for considering a retirement gift to him, and for your ongoing prayerful support of the call process for Gloria Dei.
For worship this weekend, please read Matthew 13-16.
See you in church! – Pastor Chris
P.S. Emails and signups will begin to look a little different here at Gloria Dei. As we continue to grow, we’ve outgrown our current church database software and are in need of a change. We hope that this change will be relatively painless on your end and actually benefit how you engage with the ministry here at Gloria Dei. Thanks for your patience as our staff learn the ins and outs of this new tool!
