Hello Gloria Dei,
As you know, last January I announced my plan to retire near the end of 2026. I am pleased that the Call Committee and Church Council are ready to recommend a candidate for the position of Sr. Pastor. The congregational meeting, together with a congregational vote, will happen on Sunday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Voting is open to all adult members of the congregation, and you must be present at the meeting to vote.
I want to give you a timeline for my remaining time at Gloria Dei.
We will be having a “Celebration of Ministry” retirement luncheon on November 1st beginning at Noon. You are invited! However, I will remain at Gloria Dei through the middle of November. I will be preaching on the weekends of November 8 and 15. November 15 will be my last time in worship together with all of you.
I will be attending to final details and will be in the office through the 21st of November.
It has truly been an honor to be part of this wonderful congregation of people. You all have been a tremendous blessing to me and I hope I’ve been able to at least, in part, be a blessing to you. I look forward to our remaining time together.
I’m excited that this coming week in worship, on Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday, we will be welcoming over 100 new members into this family of faith. I’ve joked that once I announced my retirement that lots and lots of people now want to join. To God be the Glory. Please be sure to welcome this group into the Gloria Dei congregation.
For worship this weekend we continue in the gospel of Matthew. Please read Matthew chapters 17 to 20. The preaching text will include one of Jesus’ parables: Matthew 20:1-16.
See you in worship,
Pastor Tim
